Before being the beautiful city of Cancun that we know today, this paradise-like spot was a crossing place to visit islands like Cozumel. Since 1974 it started to consolidate as a promising project, thus inhabitants and hoteliers began to establish here in order to create what our eyes see today as a paradise of beaches, shopping malls, nightclubs, natural wonders and ecotourism tours for all tastes and ages.- Coming to Cancun is good luck! - Although there are two versions of the meaning of Cancun, the one we like the most is the least common: Place of the Golden Serpent, as during the sunrise, if you observe it from the heights, this beautiful place seems to have the shape of a golden-colored snake, thanks to the reflection of the sun on the soft sands of its beaches.
- The first airport in Cancun was founded in 1971 and it worked up to 1974, as it was only suitable for turboprop aircraft. It was on what is now known as Kabah Avenue, and one year after it closed, a pilot got confused and landed in the middle of the avenue … the current airport had already been inaugurated.
- We knew the first map of Cancun in 1976; it was developed by the cartographer Juan de Dios González.
