5 things you must bring when traveling to Cancun

Who hasn’t dreamed about the perfect Cancun vacation? It can be a little bit of a nightmare if you don’t bring the essentials:

1. NO to tight clothing. YES to light clothing.

The use of tight clothing can limit your blood flow when you are in that tiny airplane space. Plus, a +86 °F humid Cancun weather will never be your ally when wearing your favorite skinny pants. Linen and Cotton wear is your best option to keep your skin breathing and cool.

2. NO to high heels. YES to sandals.

We, women, live eternally in love with high heels, but no, Cancun is not the perfect place to show your last shoe acquisition. Sand, grass, humid surfaces, are the kind of floor you will be stepping on. So, unless you are Wonder Woman or a Charlie Angel, please for the love of God, bring only sandals and tennis shoes for your Riviera Maya excursions.

Ok, if you are planning to go to Cocobongo one night, bring a pair –but just a pair-.

3. Mosquito Repellent

Ah yes… they can be a pain in the… skin anywhere you go, especially during the hours when the sun is going down. Please bring it in your baggage or buy one here. You will need it when having dinner al fresco, during jungle tours or visiting archaeological sites or other natural places.

4. Biodegradable sunscreen

Protect your skin and the environment by using biodegradable sunscreen. The chemicals of a regular sunscreen will damage your skin health and the natural environment, especially all water ecosystems like cenotes and coral reefs. If you visit theme parks of the area like Xcaret and Xelha, it is compulsory to use it. If you don’t find one at home, you can find it in Cancun local stores and supermarkets.

5. Good read and good music

Nature is sooo enjoyable as it is, but a good book and a beautiful song can add to it… spirit, emotions and awareness.
