The Mayan legends and myths are fascinating as all stories of ancient cultures sealed with mysticism. The Yucatan Peninsula is the backdrop of this tragic love story of two Mayan warriors fighting for the love of one woman.

Kinich and Tizic were the names of these two warriors who were brothers but their hearts were not the same. Kinich was kind, loving and respected with honor by his people, but his sibling was cold hearted and filled with rage.

They started and duel for her love, but that didn’t end well. They both died and pleaded for their return to earth just to be with the woman they loved, but the gods in their rage just let me returned as trees forever. Tizic as the Chechen, the poisonous tree that would hurt anyone who dared to touch him, and Kinich as the Chaca, as the healing tree for all the wounds that the Chechen could cause. Nicte died for sadness turning into a beautiful white flower.
